User behavior while driving electric vehicles, however, such as starting the car, pressing the accelerator and hitting the brake (regenerative braking) highly affects battery performance, and even its cycle life. Therefore, the United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC) has made corresponding regulations and forced EV batteries to pass the Variable Power Discharge Test before they are released to the market.
The fundamental requirement is a stable output voltage which can be controlled with high dynamism and precision even with rapid load changes. The Neware BTS8000 series battery test system meets this requirement by using complex and flexible digital control algorithms, implemented with DSP and FPGA structures, as well as fast-cycled power semiconductors. To test hybrid or all-electric drive systems, real batteries or a battery simulator can be used as the energy source. If reproducible results are needed, the battery simulator is the better choice since the properties of a battery can be determined by a range of parameters.
Battery Capacity Test:Capacity is one of the most important indexes of a battery, but estimating it on the fly is complex. The traditional charge/discharge/charge cycle is still the most dependable method to measure capacity.Battery capacity is time and current accumulation.Measure battery capacity different battery manufacture has their own method.Generally, discharge capacity is usually tested at a low current (0.2C). Meanwhile, set charge rate at 0.5C to test charge capacity. Neware Battery Cycler has the function of doing charge discharge cycle up to 65535 times to test batteries capacity.
